Hearts & Minds Learning is an urban outdoors-first educational community.

The new HMLC school year begins September 9 for kids ages 3-9.

  • HMLC’s educational programs are exceptional and educators are empowered to help kids learn in the way that makes most sense to them.

  • We have an established nature-focused curriculum that meets or exceeds all Minnesota state educational standards for the grade levels we serve. HMLC is a screen-free learning environment.

  • The mixed-age format allows the older kids to be learning mentors while the younger kids "learn up." As a result of the mixed-age format, individualized learning plans and small group, hands-on environment, many of the learners at HMLC are learning and understanding above where their peers in traditional school environments are.

HMLC is now located in our new space on the border of southwest Minneapolis and Richfield.

We are an outdoors-first school, as much learning as possible takes place outdoors as weather allows. As part of our community care model to keep kids well and in school and keep families working, we still require masks indoors for adults and kids. We monitor air quality and focus on proper ventilation and air filtration.

We also offer a screen-free in-person homeschool hybrid program and an in-person online school hybrid program for early elementary learners ages 6-9. Let us know if you'd like more information or you're interested in joining us to learn in 2024/2025!
