HMLC Summer Camp Policies
HMLC summer programs are offered on a weekly basis. Sign up for one week or multiple weeks.
Programming is $275/week.
If your family signs up for multiple weeks, you will receive a discounted rate of $250/week.
A sibling discount of 10% is available for multiple children (either in the same age group or in different age groups).
You may choose only one discount (either the multi week discount OR the sibling discount) These are small group classes, so space is very limited. A $50 deposit is required to reserve summer programming space. The $50 deposit will be applied to your first invoice.

IF YOUR CHILD IS AGE 6 - we offer the option for families to choose whether you feel your child will feel most comfortable with a younger group of children or an older group of children.
If your 6-year-old is not used to being in groups of children, is still in kindergarten or learns more comfortably at a kindergarten level, we recommend you choose the age 3-6 program.
If your 6-year-old is accustomed to being in groups of children, is used to spending time with older children and is in first grade or learns most comfortably at a first-grade level (or beyond), we recommend you choose the 6-10 program.
NEW THIS YEAR: We are adding a new age group: Ages 11-14. While we are putting a placeholder for this age group into every available week, we are not yet sure there will be enough kids interested to host this age group every week of camp. These will remain tentative until we can confirm enough attendance to solidify the plan. TLDR: If you're interested in this age group, indicate interest for all the week(s) you want a child to join. We will confirm in a few weeks. If we are unable to accommodate a week you signed up for, you will receive a refund.
While all themes are the same across age groups, all activities will be age-appropriate.

Summer programs take place at our southwest Minneapolis location on Diamond Lake. WE WILL NOT BE SWIMMING OR PLAYING IN THE LAKE.
Please note that HMLC is a screen-free environment, kids' phones and electronic devices will not be allowed at camp.
NOTE: If your child has a physical disability, a mental or behavioral health diagnosis (or known mental or behavioral health challenges) or has a history of physically running away from adults or groups into unsafe situations outside of safety boundaries (i.e. running into the street despite being aware of safety rules and being asked to stop), please CONTACT US before registering.
Every child and every situation is different, so we may be able to accommodate your family safely in a way that fully supports them. However, we are a very small organization and are unable to provide dedicated, one-on-one support. Please discuss with us first and we can let you know if the HMLC summer program is a good fit.
HMLC mixed-age summer programming is open to children ages 3-14. HMLC is not a childcare program and we do not have the facilities or personnel to perform diaper changes, so we ask that all learners be using the toilet reasonably reliably. Disposable training pants (such as Pull-Ups or similar) are fine.
HMLC programming is designed to take place outdoors and as much time will be spent outdoors as long as the weather allows. When there is extreme heat, inclimate weather or dangerous outdoor air quality, we will utilize our indoor spaces.
HMLC operates under a community care model: We have a number of children and adults in our community who are immune compromised and have high-risk medical conditions. At this time, masks are required for all adults and children during any time indoors. All learners must reliably be able to wear a mask, when necessary. Masks are optional for children outdoors based on learner and family preference.
All participating children are required to be up to date on all vaccines (including measles, flu and COVID) at the time of participation. If your child is medically exempt from one or more vaccines, they are still eligible to participate. We are ONLY able to offer medical exemptions and require a doctor’s note to confirm.
Due to our small group sizes, space is extremely limited. Register today!
